Ship Build Purpose

Build Description

Odyssey Shuttle / “Gankproof” Taxi

I mainly built this for Odyssey. There are many ships that can be used to just get from A to B but the ship i wanted to make had to be small (so you can land on weird terrain near Settlements) and fast but it couldnt be fragile.
The courier is really the only ship of its size that can reach these insane speeds while still having good shields and good jumprange.

It features 830ms boost speed, 6 second boost interval, 1000 Absolute shield (with 32% thermal resistance), 40ly Jumprange and even a fuel scoop. You can even add a vehicle hangar if you like but the speed and shield will suffer slightly. Weapons can theoreticially be added but the distributor is not designed for it. The speed will also suffer greatly.

You dont have to run this exact fit, the point of this is just to raise awareness about what the courier is capable of with enhanced performance thrusters and lightweight engineering. You can put a lot of stuff on this ship and it will stay fast, unlike ships like viper or imperial eagle. I would not recommend the courier as a proper racer, the flightmodel isnt comparable to the viper.

Its worth mentioning that this ship is also pretty much gankproof when flown right. Its kinda like a mini-cutter when you think about it.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • just cool
  • good shields
  • super fast
  • good jumprange and fuelscoop

Cons:

  • not suited for combat in its current form, cant even effectively ram anything because of low mass.
  • super low armor
  • small fuel tank so dont explore with it

Materials Required

The following numbers assume the following rolls required to progress:

Grade 1 rolls - 2
Grade 2 rolls - 4
Grade 3 rolls - 5
Grade 4 rolls - 7
Grade 5 rolls - 10

This can vary greatly since rolls are randomized events, which means these are at best estimates to target.
