Build Description
This was my first proper exploration ship, and was the craft that first took me to the galactic centre, Colonia and countless other points-of-interest. Though I eventually moved on to higher-end options, this little beaut will always hold a special place for me, and I’ve continued to tweak the build and take it out for a jaunt sometimes, just for the heck of it.
Pros and Cons
Still holding its own in a post-Mandalay universe, this DBX gets >80LY range fully laden (87LY max) with a dbl-engineered FSD, while still managing a fully capable exploration loadout, with an SRV, AFMU and repair limpets all to hand. It’s even got a mining laser on board for some emergency materials-gathering, and has a lightly armoured power plant for extra peace-of-mind. It’ll never quite match the sheer long-term survivability and comforts of the bigger exploration ships, it requires some ruthless power management, and to be sure, its anaemic power distributor can barely hold enough charge for a single boost, but it’s got it where it counts, and is more than able to take you for a spin around the galaxy.
